Brian Whiteley has studied art in London, New York, and Indiana. He received his BFA from Ball State University. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
Whiteley works on both found objects and conventional grounds. He uses drawing and painting techniques to complete his works. His line and paint application is very expressive and almost childlike. Vibrant colors and engaging characters are hallmarks of his work.
Whiteley's artwork is very much influenced by his surroundings. Strong social influences are evident when viewing his work. His work touches on sex, religion, cultural stereotypes, music, and your everyday experience. He opens up a fun and relaxed conversation with his viewers. “I want my art to be like candy…sweet, sour, bitter, and addictive.”
